Emergency Pedagogy Program

General Information

WISC offers the Emergency Pedagogy Course, which consists of thirteen individual three-day long intensives (modules) spread out over three years. The modules can be taken sequentially, but this is not compulsory. After successful completion of each module, the participant will receive a certificate. If the participant has successfully completed all thirteen modules, a complete certificate can be obtained.

The Emergency Pedagogy without Borders Organization, under the guidance of Bernd Ruf, and with Reinaldo Nascimento has been helping traumatized children and young people to process their experiences. The missions around the world are supplemented by national and international seminars. They are an important part of disaster preparedness and at the same time build up the network of global crisis intervention teams.

The prerequisite for certification is regular participation in a course. The certificates are given to the participants via the regional groups, but are issued and signed by the Friends of Waldorf Education.

The main learning outcomes of this module are to know, practice and learn to apply behavioral measures for risk reduction in crisis regions.

This module will cover items such as hotel/room selection; food and water; moving in danger zones; bribery/corruption; behavior at checkpoints; dealing with monitoring and other safety measures to avoid and address risks in home country and away interventions.
